Response To The New Cold War

Postby CHUQ on Mon Aug 13, 2007 12:32 pm

A very good piece written about Bush and his foreign policies.

The Russian and Chinese militaries have been conducting a joint military exercise involving large numbers of troops and combat vehicles. The former Soviet Republics of Tajikistan, Kyrgkyzstan, and Kazakstan are participating. Other countries appear ready to join the military alliance.

This new potent military alliance is a real world response to neoconservative delusions about US hegemony. Neocons believe that the US is supreme in the world and can dictate its course. The neoconservative idiots have actually written papers, read by Russians and Chinese, about why the US must use its military superiority to assert hegemony over Russia and China.

I'd say the sooner the NeoCons exit stage right, the better. They have single handedly revived the Cold War.

They done a lot to put this in motion, but I have no confidence in the Dems to change things, either.

I believe the Democrats will back off the gunboat diplomacy, unlike the current aggressive policies of the Republicans. Taking the fight to foreign soil is a big poicy blunder.IMO.

I pray you are right in your thinking, for if not and China and Russia form some type of alliance, the US will have to meet it head on, profits demand it!

I think China is looking for an energy source in Russia myself. Of course there is always the common enemy thing. China is playing both sides. IMO.

The only weapon the US has against China is the economic one. China likes the fact they are in control of that and will try to stay out of any confrontations and will act inj their bbest interests.

I see a backlash against China products if they can't get their act together. That might be what triggers cooling relations between our country. IMO.

All the biggies, China, Russia, the Us are all developing new weapons and no one is happy with the other. Does not sound like one big happy family to me.

China threatening our satellites isn't helping with relations either. And of course Taiwan is always on the back burner .

A warning has been issued to the US.

The leaders of Russia, China and Iran said Thursday that Central Asia should be left alone to manage its stability and security _ an apparent warning to the United States to avoid interfering in the strategic, resource-rich region.

The veiled warning came at a meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and on the eve of major war games between Russia and China.

The SCO was created 11 years ago to address religious extremism and border security in Central Asia, but in recent years, with countries such as Iran signing on as observers, it has grown into a bloc aimed at defying U.S. interests in the region.

We might do well to take their advice.

I* agree, but they are already involved in war games in Russia, to include China and some of the CARs. That has gone sort of queitly in the media. The first salvos of the Cold War were fired by the US in the day, and now they are returning the favor.

If I was in the CIA I would be worried and apprehensive over this news.

CHEBARKUL, Russia (Reuters) - Russian and Chinese military forces started wargames on Friday, using a joint land and air assault on a mock town held by "terrorists" as a showcase for their military prowess.

Fighter jets swooped overhead, commandos jumped from helicopters onto rooftops and the boom of artillery shells shook the firing range in central Russia as Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Hu Jintao looked on smiling.

The presidents, who control two of the largest armies in the world, were joined by leaders and military forces from the four other Central Asian members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), a regional security and economic grouping.

We would be doing the same exercises ourselves if we weren't fighting a war. They need the practice of fighting terrorist, considering how bad they screw up when they actually have to confront them. The last time Russia dealt with a hostage situation they managed to kill half of the hostages.
