Campaigns web Strategy

Postby CHUQ on Mon Oct 15, 2007 4:59 am

Not a bad report. Paul seems toi be the only one of the GOP that sees the future.

Senior strategists from the three leading Republican campaigns acknowledged Wednesday that their candidates lag behind the Democrats on the Internet but argued that the direct confrontation of a general election could make up that difference.

The strategists for former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson and former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani spoke at a forum on new media and the 2008 presidential campaigns sponsored by Politico and Waggener Edstrom.

The forum also included two Democratic panelists: Eric Carbone, Delaware Sen. Joe Biden’s Web strategist, and Macon Phillips, an executive of Blue State Digital, which provides technology to Democratic candidates, including Illinois Sen. Barack Obama.

that the direct confrontation of a general election could make up that difference.

As fast as the internet is catching on the Republicans might be taking too much for granted, especially in a real close race.

The GOP, most of them, seem to think that a dark suit and red tie is all that is needed to win. The net will be playing a huge part from this election onward; they had better get on board or they will be left scratching their heads.

I think they are already scratching their heads. They can't even claim to be Conservatives any more.

They need a different sales pitch besides Reagan. I doubt even he can save them at this point.

The campaigns that use the web masterfully, will win eventually. It is just coming into its own right now and future campaigns will be more web related, IMO.

Well, someone in the Republican party needs to wake up because they still chose to ignore the internet.

Both parties look to the next election, seldom to the next generation. Myopic!
