Congress Moves To Condemn MoveOn.org

Postby CHUQ on Fri Sep 21, 2007 2:56 am

What a colasal waste of time. Yes, it was in bad taste, most agree with that, but does Congress need to address it? NO

WASHINGTON — The Senate on Thursday overwhelmingly passed a measure condemning MoveOn.org for a newspaper ad it ran last week attacking Gen. David Petraeus. The move came as President Bush accused Democrats of cowering to the liberal political action group.

The measure passed in a 72-25 vote, with none of the Democratic presidential candidates supporting it. Sponsored by Texas Republican Sen. John Cornyn, never one to shy away from forcing Democrats to go on record on politically sticky issues, the amendment to the defense authorization bill did win the backing of 23 Democrats.

I wrote about this on my blog--between the ten days of MoveOn and OJ, the pres is getting a rest and no one notices. Sadly, the Dems are helping him avoid Iraq and such.

Personbally, I thought it was a bone head move and would do nothing to help the cause. It is almost like it was on the payroll of the admin; the ad gave Bush lots of ammo to use against the Dems and their war stance. It was stupid and whoever conme up with the idea needs to be fired!

I agree CHUQ. We have a lot of serious issues to deal with. This is nothing more than a diversion. IMO.

It has been almost two weeks and we are still talking about the ad--this has been a godsend to Bush--people can now think about some purile piece of crap, while the admin runs crap past them and they will not notice. good tactic!

It looks like the only ones who supported the measure are the ones who had nothing to lose.

The outrage was over the title, but the rest of the ad was dead on correct about the general's testimony. But I guess it is easier to use the title and not the body. We Americans love our lame ass slogans.

The whole thing sounded pretty silly to me. I could care less what any of them say. They are all looking for 5 minutes of fame to me.

I agree a waste of time all it is doing is trying to counter anything the Repubs are saying.

Timing was everything! MoveOn gave the Repubs a perfect way to divert the attention from what the general had to say. That is why I asked whose payrollo MoveOn is on.
