People usually would stereotype this as being a republican thing, but this was coming out of a democrat.

Well, that's half the problem with stereotyping people by what their politics are isn't it? Just as it does no good putting a Republican in a little box, you really can't put a Democrat in a box either of what they should/shouldn't be like.

Fundalmentalism isn't just a 'Republican' thing. Just as being a 'Liberal' isn't a 'Democratic' thing either.
