Looks like my scoring of the Dems is paying off. I love my job!

Accepting the Democratic nomination for president in 1992, Bill Clinton promised “an America that will not coddle dictators from Beijing to Baghdad.”

Weeks later, his running mate, Al Gore, delivered a speech detailing the now long-forgotten history of the first Bush administration’s support for Saddam Hussein and Iraq’s weapons programs (which shamefully continued long after the ostensible purpose for America’s initial support of Saddam — his war with Iran — ended).

Gore said the first Gulf War was a necessary consequence of President George H.W. Bush’s failed diplomacy and coziness with Saddam all the way up to his invasion of Kuwait (tacitly encouraged by the first Bush administration) and declared that “coddling tyrants is a hallmark of the Bush foreign policy.”

I'm not sure what that article is trying to say. Stronger foreign policy that supposedly was proposed by the Democrats comes nowhere close to what we have seen under the Republicans.

It seems to defend Lieberman, the biggest political slut in Washington, then it points out Lamonts views, who is hardly a political heavyweight.

I can't see where the Democrats are backpeddling. Circumstances are constantly changing but I don't see a big shift.

I have been scoring the Congress since Aug and it has taken 3 steps back and one no step, in my form of scoring. I put the scoring in my blog.

Backwards, forward, sideways. Laughing None of them are headed in the right direction that I can see. The part in the article I couldn't grasp is what Clinton and Gore have to do with the scheme of things.

Throw Lieberman and Lemont into the mix and it really makes no sense to me about where the Democrats are headed.

I think the Democrats are so confused they aren't sure either.

IMO, Democrats want it both ways--they want to help the common man and yet keep their fingers in corporate America--it makes them look foolish.

They are all corporate bought. Follow the gold. That's where we're headed.

You are right. Corporatism has lead to globalization and that is leading to the horrible state of the US foreign policy.
