Edwards Turns Up The Rhetoric

Postby CHUQ on Fri Aug 24, 2007 6:03 am

Chest thumping is always fun to watch.

August 24, 2007
HANOVER, N.H. -- Sharpening his rhetoric against Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, John Edwards used a combative speech here Thursday to cast his front-running rival for the Democratic presidential nomination as part of a "corroded" Washington culture that is neglecting the nation's problems and doing the bidding of powerful corporations.

The former North Carolina senator didn't mention Clinton by name, but he left no doubt he was condemning Clinton-era politics when he said the Lincoln Bedroom should not be "for rent" and cautioned that "nostalgia" was no reason to elect someone president.

Edwards framed the choices in the 2008 campaign as "caution versus courage; old versus new; calculation versus principle."

"The problem with nostalgia is what we tend to do is only remember what you like and you forget the parts you didn't like," he said at an outdoor town-hall-style event.

He'd do well to promote why he should be president, not attack his opponents all the time. He seems like he's whining a lot.

I believe his tactic is working, if his opponents are on their heels explaining themselves, then Edwards does not have to address his stand on issues. Plus he looks like a good guy for pointing out their faults.

The problem is his tactics aren't working enough to make him a front runner. He'll have a hard time putting Clinton on her heels.

I will wait until the SC before I discount anyone, but as long as he can stagger his opponents with these attacks he looks more and more like a good guy to some. Personally, I do like him, but no really cares about my endorsement. LOL

Could make it happen.

Hillary only has to shoot herself in the foot a couple of more times before she has to really worry about Obama and Edwards.

Hello patriotsblade. Welcome.

I'm surprised she has been able to dodge as many bullets as she has. It's only a matter of time until she makes a mistake, but she has done a good job of staying out of trouble so far.

Hiya patriotsblade! Clinton can dodge these shots fired at her because she seldonms gives specifics, she speaks in generalities that can be easily manipulated. After all she is a politician. I think Edwards has to work on his delivery more he is losing his interests.
