I have been a moderate progressive and a Democrat since I first voted many years ago. Today, I am totally disgusted with the current party powers to be. They were elected to get US out of the Worthless War In Iraq and to stand up the Criminal In Charge. They have done neither.

They play the game that we the common little people don't understand the complexities of politics. I believe they no longer understand the simplicity of doing the right thing. Their current cowardice is only surpassed by the Republican lack of integrity.

I have written both my Senator and Representative telling them how I feel. I will vote for any Dem or Independent who runs against them and have told them so.

There has to be more we can do to let them know they are no longer representing anyone but them self.

I would vote for Kucinich if he had a chance. Ron Paul is too far to right for me.

How do you get a mass protest onto the internet so that these wimps realize they will be kicked out if they continue their wussy ways?

Hello rayboyusmc. Welcome.

You made some very good points. I wish I knew how to light a fire under the Democrats. Although I'm an Independent I don't see a good choice for them on the horizon either.

I like the idea of a mass protest online. At the leaast it would provide a venue to vent about the current situation. If it were organized right, and the media would give it some air time, I think it could be effective.

The solution is to STOP VOTING FOR THEM.

The democrats have taken the liberal wing for granted for 20+ years - with no consequences when they do things
contrary to your liking.

As an estimate, the liberal wing is around 15% of the democratic party - which is plenty to sway an election. If Hillary (not a favorite of the liberals) were to be polling at 40% nationally against the repubulican - with a liberal 3rd party candidate at 10% - she would move left in a hurry. This is the perfect year for a movement (assuming Hillary is your nominee) - there will be no anti-war candidate on the ballot - what a perfect set up for an anti-war candidate to emerge and be taken seriously.

Its a hard choice for democrats - as many view the elections as the lesser of two evils - vote for a 3rd party guy helps the republicans win. Thats very likely true and is the risk. Think of the long view - it can change the party for the better for the next time around.

Think 1992. Perot gets around 17% - allowing Bill Clinton to sneak in with only 43% of the popular vote. It changed the republican party, they pulled their collective heads out of the asses and came back in 94 for a historic 50+ seat victory in the congress.

This is the perfect year for it - find liberal candidates to run as independents, support them, vote for them. If the democrats get the message that either they must move left, or lose every election - you bet they will move left.

Basically, what you are saying is that the left of the party should be going as independents, about right? If so, would that not help the Repubs?
