Hi guys,

I am a student in need of some quick answers - Theyre very easy for Americans to answer - but can be slightly tricky to foreigners:

1. Can the President of the be a member of Congress?
2. Is Congress refered to as Parliament or visvera?
3. Can the President be removed by Parliament?
4. Can Congress remove the President?
5. Is the President a member of the Cabinet?

Thanks

Hello Neric. Welcome.

Interesting questions. Laughing

Our Congress is what you call Parliament.

1. Members of the executive branch are prohibited from simultaneously holding seats in Congress.
2.. Congress is refered to as the Legislative Branch.
3 and 4. Yes, Congress can remove a President .
5. The Cabinet is appointments made by the President.

So then the President IS a member of the Cabinet?

The Cabinet is a list of departments under the direction of the president. The department heads are appointments made by the President. He presides over the cabinet but only the heads of the congressionally approved government departments are formally part of the Cabinet.

Department heads make up the Cabinet.

There are 14. The departments are: Agriculture, Commerce, Defense, Education, Energy, Health and Human Services, Housing and Urban Development, Interior, Justice, Labor, State, Transportation, Treasury, and Veteran's Affairs. State is the oldest department, originally established in 1781 as the Department of Foreign Affairs, and the secretary of state is the first Cabinet officer in line for succession to the presidency. The newest is Veterans' Affairs, elevated from a federal agency in March 1989--Ronald Reagan signed the legislation the previous year.
