The players have gotten there orders.

JERUSALEM -- The Israeli and Palestinian leaders brought their negotiating teams together for the first time Wednesday and instructed them to start work next week on a joint declaration that would pave the way for full-scale peace talks.

The two-hour meeting at Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's residence did not delve into the core issues of the decades-old conflict. That task was handed to the negotiators, who have just weeks to draft a document to serve as the agenda for a peace conference called by President Bush.

IMO, that is the plan. They appear to be making a bit of progress while nothing is really accomplished. The reason why this has gone on for 60 yrs.

I see that their meeting found a date for their meeting--Nov 26, I believe. This, as most other things that need to be addressed, are drawn out and always pushed to the back burnner.

And I'm sure some event will take place to put the whole thing on hold. These statements are just smoke and mirrors.

True that, and it amazes me that the world sits on its ass while this game plays out. Business as usua;l I guess. If Israel can get a response out of Syria, they will have their excuse to end the meeting and "defend" itself.
