Political Blogging-Suggestions?

Postby AlicornsPrayer on Sat Feb 16, 2008 1:45 pm

I was asking a friend of mine who owns her own site, how we could possibly advertise this site to draw members to it...She suggested that we consider starting a site blog on one of the blogging sites.

I actually think this is a good idea, but I'm not sure where to start. Setting up a blog on MySpace is easy enough, but I need suggestions as to what should be put into the blog that will catch people's attention and desire to join us and participate.

Any ideas anyone? I'm open to suggestions so don't be shy.

Alicorn, my blog studies and observations get very little participation. It is political and that may be a draw back. My Daily Kos page gets far more interests than my regular blog. I have tried a lot of ways to promote my blog, but few seem willing to participate. So, I wish I had an answer for you, but maybe Seg would be a better tutor. Apparently, I stink at it.LOL

Alicorn, I have just broke a story about McCain on Kos and it gets 19 comments before I finish writing it, I would say if you are interested in politics, Kos is the way to go. If there is something else that interest you, then find the site with the most traffic and if they offer a dairy section, go for it.

Blogging is time consuming with little satisfaction attached to it. People do not seem to want to participate one on one. Sad they prefer to hide in a pack and attack then disappear again.

My blog now is just basically and then once I croak they may be useful.. a place to collect my thoughts on politics. I wish I had more better info for you, but this is just what I have noticed since I began this years ago.

Please feel free to ask me questions if you would like. I will help anyway I can.

I've never blogged....
"And the Gerbil King came down from the clouds and said 'Turn your place of living into a place of worship... and pass the twinkies.'"

The only blogging I've actually ever done, is general 'get to know me' types of blogs/on-line diaries.

So doing a type of blog that's site related? I don't have a clue where to begin. Hence the reason I'm asking for any suggestions on how we'd like to present the site if we decide to use a blog to introduce potential members to our site and discussions.

Sounds like a great idea and I think the Segep or Kizzume may be the best people to ask.
