Seems the ex-gossip columnist is an a/hole. But most everyone knew that right?


NEW YORK Columnist Eugene Robinson criticized a reference to lynching made by Fox News host Bill O'Reilly, who's also a columnist.

O'Reilly said on his radio show this week that "I don't want to go on a lynching party against Michelle Obama unless there's evidence, hard facts, that say this is how the woman really feels. If that's how she really feels -- that America is a bad country or a flawed nation, whatever -- then that's legit. We'll track it down."

Robinson, speaking Wednesday on MSNBC's "Countdown" show hosted by Keith Olbermann, said: "There's certainly nothing at all funny or remotely appropriate about the use of a lynching reference to talk about Michelle Obama. ... It's -- I'm almost speechless."

I heard on the Tom Hartman show on XM that FOX is dropping O'Reilly's show on Fridays to be replaced by Tony Snow. I have not found a confirmation yet, but I will keep looking.

You'd think that by now, no matter how controversial a show is, that those running the show would realize that it's media suicide to use the word 'lynching' period.

I guess that is why they like to be calkled "shock jocks".

I bet his ratings went up. If folks would just ignore him and not go over every statement he makes with a fine comb he wouldn't be in the headlines, which is where he wants to be.

No, I don't believe it was a slip of the tongue. Like you mentioned, it was more then likely to boost his ratings.

The sad part is that many Americans get their opinions from people like O'Reilly, Coulter and Rush.

You have a point there..... ...I am at the point that make me think that. Society is running amuck...And that is sad

I don'tknow if O'Reilly is an A|..hole or not as you suggested... but aren't we going a little overboard by having to think about using words that are in our dictionaries, for fear of offending someone... Especially when the speaker had no intention of refering to a hanging of a person...

i'm surprised he didnt get axed after his sexual harassment suit---the guys a creep, and the fact that there are folks hanging on his every word makes my skin crawl-----his ignorance is evidenced in word and action, and i would lose no sleep at all if i would never have to lay eyes on his splotchy visage EVER again

As well as from Olbermann and the Air America crowd.

Its not one sided.

i think his call for impeachment was quite eloquent----keiths cool with me---might even name my kid after him.....
