US Agressive Foreign Policy

Postby CHUQ on Mon Jul 30, 2007 5:51 am

New poll show that Americans reject the agressive policy.

Angus Reid Global Monitor) - More adults in the United States question their government’s rationale on foreign affairs, according to a poll by the New York Times and CBS News. 54 per cent of respondents think the U.S. will be safer from terrorism in the long run if it stays out of other countries’ affairs in the Middle East, up five points since October.

Conversely, 38 per cent of respondents think the U.S. will be safer from terrorism if it confronts the countries and groups that promote terrorism in the Middle East, down six points in nine months.

I can understand why they would question this type of foreign policy. It doesn't work in the ME, and it seems to make matters worse.

I would support a more aggressive foreign policy if it was a last resort instead of a shoot first, ask questions later diplomacy. National Security is a battle cry, and it seems to give Washington a green light to attack other countries at will.

Our enemies are only encouraged by our foreign policy.IMO.

The admin is trying to justify thye aggressive formation of thye AfriCom

The United States (US) government is having a hard time convincing critics that the new US/Africa Command (AFRICOM), will be an opportunity for enhanced engagement rather than the militarisation of relations between the super power and the continent competition with China, fight against terrorism and securing oil.

At a hearing of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on African Affairs, Assistant Secretary, Bureau of African Affairs, Department of State, Jendayi Frazer, sought to douse fears, reiterating that the civil-military activities of AFRICOM will help strengthen regional security, policies and their implementation.

If we would get off this kick of aggressive foreign policy we wouldn't need AFRICOM.

The only reason for it is to police the whole region and interfere with foreign governments.

Controlling the Horn Of Africa and the oil rrserves in Nigeria and now ther newly found reserves in Ghana are all reasons the US wants to be in Africa, militarily.

Our dependence on foreign oil will be the downfall of this country.IMO. We simply can't continue to fight the whole world over it.

True that and that is part of the foreign policy; trying to force people and country into our sphere of influence. If they are democratic they will not fight another democratic country, at least that is the theory. I personal do not subscribe to it, but it is there anyway.
