Maliki is trying too hard. Iran wants to establish a bank in Iraq, if that happens it will give them even more latitude in the country.

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has accepted an invitation to visit neighboring Iraq, Iran's foreign minister said on Sunday, a move that would be unlikely to be welcomed by the United States.

Foreign Minister Manoucher Mottaki said Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki had invited Ahmadinejad after Maliki visited Tehran on August 8-9, but added a final decision had yet to be taken.

"When a definite decision about the trip is made, the timing will be announced to the public," Mottaki told reporters in the northeastern city of Mashhad, according to the ISNA news agency.

These visits are BS. Talk is cheap and it doesn't accomplish a damn thing because nothing changes. They might as well save their breath and the jet fuel it takes to fly their lame asses from one country to the other.

I don't recall any of these talks being anything more than photo op. Nothing is ever resolved. This is just smoke and mirrors.

IMO, Iran is doing what all coiuntries should do and that is look for a diplomatic solution to whatever prob there is. Iran is looking for the economic base in Iraq and Maliki being a shi'a is the opportunity they are loking for.
