August 24, 2007 -- WASHINGTON - Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton yesterday raised the prospect of a terror attack before next year's election, warning that it could boost the GOP's efforts to hold on to the White House.

Discussing the possibility of a new nightmare assault while campaigning in New Hampshire, Clinton also insisted she is the Democratic candidate best equipped to deal with it.

"It's a horrible prospect to ask yourself, 'What if? What if?' But if certain things happen between now and the election, particularly with respect to terrorism, that will automatically give the Republicans an advantage again, no matter how badly they have mishandled it, no matter how much more dangerous they have made the world," Clinton told supporters in Concord.

WOLFEBORO, N.H., Aug. 24 -- Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton drew outrage from her opponents for the Democratic presidential nomination on Friday after saying that a terrorist attack in the United States would give Republicans an edge in the 2008 race.

At a small gathering in New Hampshire on Thursday, Clinton raised the possibility of another terrorist strike, saying she would be the best Democrat to confront the Republicans in the wake of such an event. Her comments drew fire from not only her rivals but also the liberal blogosphere, with her detractors accusing her of seeking to use terrorism as a political weapon, just as Republicans have in earlier elections.

Former senator John Edwards (N.C.), speaking to reporters here late Friday, accused Clinton of "engaging in a political calculation" about terrorism. Sen. Christopher J. Dodd (D-Conn.) called Clinton's remarks "tasteless."

Considering the Republicans use terrorism to scare the voters into thinking another attack is going to happen any minute, they would be running around like chickens with their heads cut off screaming I told you so.

A new attack or even the threat has the Repubs jerking off in the corner. But Clinton is right! I mean the best thing that ever happened to Bambi was 9/11, from a political stand point. And the Repubs take every opportunity to exploit it, so their condemnation of Clinton is hypocritical, which is what Conservds are best at.

Those comments are politically motivated and fail to see the real meaning of Clinton's comment. IMO. I have no doubt the Republicans would use their political soapbox to continue their aggressive foreign policy agenda.

I wonder why an attack on America, after more than six years and a pliant Congress that gives the shrub just about everything he demands, the GOP would benefit from another terrorist attack on U.S. soil. Because, really, one could almost understand the piss-poor excuse of eight months not being sufficient time in which to pursue leads. But Bush has had nearly six years to prepare against a potential terrorist attack. Congress has done nothing to stop his abuses of power, and in fact enabled them. So why would the Republican Party gain support if these assholes let another attack happen on their little tin dictator's watch?

Because, Michael, they have been saying that terror is still an enormous problem, and how the war in Iraq is the right path. A terrorist attack would be a good excuse for the Republican crowd to yell out, "See? We've been right all along!" at the top of their lungs. And they would say that the Democrats would be wrong, so they don't deserve the presidency.

Honestly, IMO, another terrorist attack would just be saying, "See? The war on terror isn't working. Terrorists are still out there and there are probably more plans to attack us."

If there were to be another attack, the people would support the person that they precieve as the bigggest deterant to terroism, unfortuantely, right now that is the Bush boys and possibly some of the candidates, like Giuliani.
