Iran To Crack Down On Students

Postby CHUQ on Mon Aug 27, 2007 5:19 am

This is where the US could make inroads to a regime change. If you recall that is where the last regime change came from. But Iran's govt is nervous.

TEHRAN: Iran warned on Sunday that the Islamic Republic would clamp down on students alleged to be in contact with the US administration and who were seeking to topple the country's authorities. "We will confront those who are currently studying in universities under the guise of being students and have contact with foreigners and White House statesmen," Intelligence Minister Gholam Hossein Mohseini Ejeie said.

"They will be confronted, because we believe they are not university students but are seeking to destroy to the system of the Islamic Republic of Iran," he said, according to the semi-official Mehr news agency.

We have funding for them if they want to rebel against the government.
To argue with a person who has renounced the use of reason is like administering medicine to the dead.

It's impossible to be an effective leader of a country when everyone thinks you are stupid.

The time is not ripe. Before the Shah shot himself in the foot. But the students are a large and vocal group, but in my research I do not see them as a major force for change, they are protesting stuff like internet access and such. Before they were drawn together by the oppression of the Shah's forces. It could happen but they need to find a strong position if they are to garner support among all the people.
