JUst reported on MSNBC, Russian Pres Putin has just disbaded the Russian government. More to come when a loink is available.

That sounds like something we should do.

True that--True that! But a parliment was nbot ever considered for this country. Why? It would be harder for the wealthy to retain power, at first, if the govt could be dissolved and told to start over. I like the idea, personally.

MOSCOW (AP) - President Vladimir Putin dissolved Russia's government Wednesday in a major political shakeup ahead of parliamentary and presidential elections, the Kremlin said.

The dissolution is expected to result in a new prime minister, who will be seen as Putin's choice to succeed him after he steps down next spring.

The newspaper Vedomosti, citing unidentified Kremlin officials, reported that Sergei Ivanov, a first deputy prime minister and a leading contender to succeed Putin, could be appointed to replace Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov.

Financial crime investigator Viktor Zubkov was little known outside, or even inside Russia before Vladimir Putin nominated him for the post of prime minister.

Speculation was rife that President Putin was about to replace Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov, but as the Russian news website, newsru.com, put it: "Not a single politician, expert or political analyst forecast it would be Viktor Zubkov".

The people most likely to know of Mr Zubkov's existence, were the country's "oligarchs"
