Matel Apologizes to China

Postby CHUQ on Sat Sep 22, 2007 3:53 am

All I can say is--WTF?

In a surprising move, U.S. toy manufacturer Mattel apologized to China on Friday, taking responsibility for recent toy recalls and admitting they were due to "design flaws."

The Chinese manufacturers of the toys were not to blame for the massive recalls, a senior Mattel executive said during talks in Beijing.

"The vast majority of those products that were recalled were the result of a design flaw in Mattel's design, not through a manufacturing flaw in China's manufacturers," Debrowski said at a meeting in the office of Li Changjiang, chief of China's product quality assurance agency.

I got a laugh at Mattel eating crow on tv. There might have been design flaws but they didn't design their products with lead paint in mind.

It is humorous to see what a capitalist will do and say to preserve the profits. Even to the point of taking responsibility for something they did not do.

Well, if they piss off Chop Stick Charlie they have to rely on more expensive production costs elswhere. We know that won't happen so we will see more boot lickers come forward to smooth the waters.

Back in the '50's we would have cut off our wee-wees before doing business with a communist, but now it is ok because someone is making a buttload of money. How do you know thyat their desire for world domination has subsided?

The real test will be around Christmas time. That will be the real measure of how much these recalls have affected the toy market.

I do not think it will impact the toy market, after all it will be Xmas and tons of toys are needed to pacify the children.
