Not too people really give a sh*t what is going on in Myanmar, but it bears watching the implications could be disasterous.

Q: What touched off the current demonstrations in Myanmar?

A: The trigger was the military regime's huge hike of fuel prices, which caused the cost of public transport — used by most people in Myanmar — to also rise. But the protests also reflect long-standing discontent with the repressive military regime, and were initiated by veteran pro-democracy activists.

Well, until a few days ago I never heatrd of the place. I think it's a UN problem. I don't see how how the US can help much.

The media has made it the 800 lb gorilla in the room. This type of crack down has been going on for at least 19 yrs, but all of a sudden Bush notices. Please! Hoping all his lame ass mistakes can be exorcised by mentioning it in a speech.
