A typical tactic for the US, when you want to appear to be concerned and looking for a solution; you convene a summit. it only delays making a decision that they do not want to make.


WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Some of the world's biggest greenhouse polluters took aim at President George W. Bush on Friday, calling him "isolated" and questioning his leadership on the problem of global warming.

Bush, who convened the two-day meeting of the 17 biggest emitters of climate-warming gases, stressed new environmental technology and voluntary measures to tackle the issue.

"Our nations have an opportunity to leave the debates of the past behind and reach a consensus on the way forward and that's our purpose today," Bush told an audience that included delegates from Europe, Japan and Australia as well as fast-growing developing countries such as China and India.

We have been questioning that ourselves. He isn't interested in global warming.

He is a wealthy brat with oil ties, why would he be interested in changing anything that would effect the industry that he earns his wealth in? This is where commonsense comes in.

He's trying to save face by going along with it now. It's just smoke and mirrors.

These guys talk about emissions, and talk and talk and.....well you know, but few are talking about any other part of the environment, protecting the ozone is good thing, but what about water supply, etc?

Water is something that seems to be taken for granted.

How true, and soon it will become the source of many more conflicts. A little foresight would be nice.

China is going to be in big trouble shortly if they don't do something. Here in the U.S. we are seeing water pollution getting worse also. Record numbers of beaches and recreational areas were closed in the last year due to contamination. Sewage is becoming a big problem.

But yet they will concentrate on emissions. This is where I have a big prob with their technique. The environment should be addressed as a whole not in parts. This tactic is just to stretch it out and protect corporations as long as possible.
