Lebanese Elections

Postby CHUQ on Fri Oct 05, 2007 4:36 am

This is just funny! The US will not tolerate foreign influence in the elections, while sending money and such to the Maronite candidate. Does anyone see the hypocracy here?

WASHINGTON (AFP) - US President George W. Bush said Thursday that he was "deeply concerned about foreign interference" by countries like Syria in Lebanon's upcoming presidential election.

"I am deeply concerned about foreign interference in the election. The message has been sent to nations such as Syria that they should not interfere," Bush said as he met with Lebanese parliament leader Saad Hariri, the son of slain former prime minister Rafiq Hariri.

Why cannot anyone see the contradiction in these statements. I mean the us warns others not to interfer in Lebanon, while they are interferring in Lebanon. Some intelligence would be a nice refreshing thing.

That's the root of all our problems in the ME. Sticking our nose in where it don't belong

The US is afraid that the Maronite Christian will not win, that they will do whatever it takes to keep them in office.
