US Misjudged Putin

In case anyone is interested, Rice is a Russian expert from Stanford.

WASHINGTON — The Bush administration's failure to win Russia's consent to install U.S. missile defenses in its European backyard and a growing list of other disputes suggest that President Bush and his aides have misread the man whose "soul" Bush thought he'd divined when they first met six years ago.

Bush's strategy on Russia assumed that Russian President Vladimir Putin embraced democracy, wanted integration with the West and sought a "strategic partnership" in which Moscow would acquiesce to U.S. policies such as NATO expansion. Feuds could be resolved through the close personal relationship that Bush believed he had with his Russian counterpart.

Who ended the Cold War? NOT!

T

MOSCOW (AFP) - Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday chastised the United States over its policy in Iraq and Iran, and announced "grandiose" military plans, including development of a new nuclear weapon.

Putin, who is to step down at the end of his second term next year, also said he wanted the ruling United Russia party to preserve his policies after December parliamentary elections, confirming that he wants to retain major political influence after leaving office.

In a nationally broadcast link-up with ordinary Russians across the country, Putin called the US intervention in Iraq a "dead end" and called on Washington to set a deadline for the withdrawal of troops.

Rice is a dumbass and I could care less where she came from. Stanford graduates don't impress me much . They seem to be idiots.

I will NEVER rank on the intelligence of Condi Rice. She was in her second year of college at the age when most people were still in high school. She was a complete whiz in school and everything she has put her mind to. I may not agree with what she DOES, but dumb is not something that describes her in any way.

Well, she's an educated fool then because she hasn't been able to accomplish much. I have no respect for her so called expertice. If she is so smart where are the results? Why are we retuirning to the cold war under her watch. She isn't the expert she's made out to be. She's book smart. That doen't translate into being a successful diplomat.

Now Rice warns Russia. That should go over like a lead turd in punch bowl.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice lambasted Moscow on Monday for using its oil and gas wealth as a "political weapon" and said democratic reforms would strengthen Russia's ties with Washington.

In a speech on the state of U.S.-Russia relations, Rice conceded there was a "certain distance" between Washington and Moscow, but she rejected suggestions there had been a return to the frosty ties of the Cold War era.

Russia is a key energy supplier in Europe but it has reduced or even cut supplies over a range of disputes with neighboring countries. For example, this month, it threatened to reduce supplies in a dispute with Kiev over payments.

I'll totally agree with that. I just don't think she's stupid.

It's sad that with all her intelligence, she STILL just does what she's told.

The trait of a good bureaucrat and Rice is a good one. She is smart and co-dependent.
