Why do some people take the flag so seriously while the flag has become what has--something people put on their cars until they fade to silver and white, sometimes with the caption "these colors never run". Yeah, but they fade.

I think the idea of making it illegal to deface a flag is as silly and as awful as making it illegal to deface a bible or other religious book, or drawing a caricature of prophet Mohammad.

It is a piece of cloth. If it represents a country it will be purely subjective, for none of us willo have the same impressions.For instance to my g/father it was a symbol of treachery and disception. He was an Apache scout.

I am all for that and could we make that a holiday while we are at it?

What if our flag was a bra?... Maybe that would help our flagging world image.

Well, I took the poll and choose 'nothing should be done'.

I personally wouldn't burn the flag...But considering that as an American, we have the right to protest and freedom of speech, as such and as ironic as it is...Burning the flag is one of those rights that shouldn't be denied to our citizens if they choose to do so.

As such, I have the right to disagree with their choice, but not the right to interfer or impede them from doing so because that is their right to do.

Just my 2 cents worth.

I don't think there will be a time where I'll ever burn the flag, but I never know. If things get bad enough, maybe I'll feel differently about it, like if Huckabee gets in office.
