He's encouraging IMMIGRATION. Not all immigrants are illegal.

If we're so scared they'll be able to take better advantage of the kind of life we can live here, then maybe WE should be learning something from them. I've met and have had too many neighbors that that were good, hard-working, loving Mexican families to think of it as anything that should intimidate us other than the fact that many people here don't realize what kind of wonderful freedoms we really have here--what kind of great opportunities are available here that people just aren't taking advantage of, and I think people are pissed off because they're seeing people doing what they wish they were doing.

If we reduce the positive elements of coming here ILLEGALLY, and make it easier to come here LEGALLY, I think we'll be taking care of the problem more.

But from everything I've read of his speeches, Obama seems to be trying to encourage immigration in general. Will that end up encouraging illegal immigrants too? Possibly, but that is not his goal.

Some people relate pushing immigration in general with pushing illegal immigration unless it specifically goes around also trying to speak highly against illegal immigration. Sad but true.

How can those things be compared to each other?
