I'm all for leaving. ASAP. Has anyone heard anything about the oil law lately?

Not much news right now. The big story is the allowing ba'athist back into to govt, so that is a form of good news and it will play in the media for awhile.

Not right now. Bush needs successes and they will be the small ones that are easily passed.

I get the impression the Iraq government is in limbo at the moment. I haven't seen any headlines about government policies being debated or enacted.

They have passed the reconciliation, allowing Ba'athist back into the government. This is said to be a healing move. we will see.

I think they they are putting to much stock into that policy myself. Removing them in the first place seems to make even less sense now.

After many months of a stalled bill---and the impasse continues.

BAGHDAD, Feb 18 (Reuters) - A law that could shape Iraq's future by clearing the way for investment in its oil fields is deadlocked by a battle for control of the reserves and no end to the impasse is in sight, lawmakers and officials say.

The bill is also meant to share revenue equitably from the world's third largest oil reserves, thus helping bridge the deep divides between Iraq's Shi'ites, Sunni Arabs and Kurds.
