Oh... but, according to the liberal element, you have been affected by it.
You see... fat people cause a burden on society and make insurance and medical costs rise through the roof... and they take up too much room in airplanes and toilets... and they are taking more than their fair share of social security by having to retire unhealthy before their time to actually retire... and all that other P.C. jazz.
You know... just like smokers and their first hand and (*insert laughter here*) second-hand death they spread.
I've got to say, I've never in my life seen someone who suffers so badly from 'It's-all-the-fault-of-the-liberals-and-democrats'-itis as much as you do...
You do realize that the non-smoking laws (which I find stupid and an invasion of my rights to smoke) were driven by NON SMOKERS...Who incidentally, happened to be from ALL political backgrounds? Conservatives, Liberals, Republican, Democrat, Moderate, Christian, Athiest, etc?
The thing that all those people had in common was they either never smoked, or had stopped smoking, and they didn't want to be around cigarette smoke?
And in the process, those people that pushed their congressmen (which again, those congressmen were Republican, Democrat, Conservative, Liberal, Moderates as well) to enact laws so that they didn't have to be around cigarette smokes...And the tobacco industry and insurance companies also put in thier help as well, with promises to put the money from the cigarette taxes into building non-smoking enviroments as well as stop smoking programs...Which never happened, since the quit smoking products went over the counter so they didn't have to honor their agreements...
So your constant trying to lay the blame on the shoulders of one particular group, simply cause you're in the 'other' group is fruitless, unrealistic, and unrational...
You want to get mad at who created the non-smoking laws? Then get mad at the right people...The NON SMOKERS. Period.
I live in a bi-state area...One side of the river (Missouri) is considered 'Republican'...The other side (Illinois), Democrat. In that bi-state area, the first state to enact non-smoking laws was Missouri. By an overwhelming majority in fact. A REPUBLICAN majority too, as it's a 'Republican' state.
And whatever Missouri does in regards to laws, Illinois follows behind within a couple of years...But here's the giff of it...It wasn't the fault of the 'Conservative Republicans', but was the fault of the non-smoking voters period, who encouraged their state Reps and Senators to create and enact these laws for them...Same with Illinois, who has always had the saying 'If Missouri does it and we're such close neighbors, then we'll do it to accomodate their citizens as well'.
And it's the same with the 'fat people issue'....Oh...by the way? The state where the 'fat issue' started? Is a REPUBLICAN state as well...The people and shops discriminating against 'fat people' who started all this were/are REPUBLICAN.
That still doesn't fall in the lap though, of ALL Republicans, because the people that are supporting this issue, come from ALL political/social sides...It's no more a 'liberal thing' going on, then a 'conservative' going on. It's a group of people that for some reason think it's their place to dictate to another what another can/can't do in regards to their bodies. And that group of people are made up of indviduals from ALL party groups, not just one or the other. And those individuals are called 'busy no-bodies'.
Instead of laying the blame soley on the group that you don't like, you need to stop and also take a huge look in the mirror at your own choosen group. Because the blame is equal and shared between them all.
