Rules

Postby Coyote on Tue Jul 03, 2007 11:30 am

Are there any forum rules you feel need to be clearly outlined?

I like the rules at politicalcrossfire.com.

I want to have relaxed language standards, but no vile insults like f@ggot, n*gger, etc. I figure the easiest way to accomplish this is to enable the word censor and have it replace those words with something funny like [I love homosexuals]. :D

I want it to be against forum policy to challenge moderators. Call me a control freak, but it just seems to upset the exchange of actual information.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! It's easier to come up with a comprehensive policy if everyone is involved at the outset.

Things to think about:

Images
Quotes
Quoting other members in signatures
Language
Hate speech
Personal info and liability
Moderation policy
warnings/infractions/bans
chat rules

I'm all for a liberal policy on language but methods to avoid the word filters shouldn't be allowed.

PM warning for first offense of rules violations and infractions should be handed out for repeated violations after warning. 3 strikes and you get a time out.

No attacks on moderators decisions on the board. If there are any contentions about infractions or warnings handed out by mods it should be handled by the admin or mods via PM.

No unauthorized quotes about other members in the sig. without the member who is being quoted approval.

Not hate speech allowed in usernames. Democratssuck,Republicanhater, gaybasher, etc.

No copy and pasting without personal input about the thread topic when starting threads. Without input it's difficult to get the point of the topic at times.

I am working on putting together an official "Rules" page, but for now I think common sense should serve well. Don't be insulting.

C Mna--commonsense is a good thing, but you know after visiting othrer forums, it is in shoirt supply. Tumbles list is pretty good. But you are smarter than the average poster, me in particular, so your judgement is ok with me.
