I am not either. The African nations are showing some guts by refusing. But I am wondering who will cave to pressure?

You have got to read this--another one for my anal-ocity award.

United States of America has said its decision to situate an African Command in the West African region of the continent is not out of a desire to be close to the oil rich African states, but a desire to help Africa establish its own security and support its leadership efforts.

At a press briefing jointly addressed by Deputy to the Commander for military operations, US AFRICOM, Vice Admiral Robert T. Moeller and Ambassador Mary Carlin Yates, Deputy to the Commander for Civil- Military Activities, at the US Embassy in Abuja, the duo stated that they are in Nigeria to hold consultations with top Nigerian military officials and Foreign Affairs Minister, Ojo Maduekwe, to get their perspective and clarify the misconceptions that have been generated over the establishment.

I don't understand how one man can ask to put us in all these other countries, but GOD FORBID we grant them a Military presence on OUR soil.

He is going to mess us up so badly before he leaves office. What a piece of crap.

By the way, I'm new. LOL.

My name is Christine.

I kinda thought that this was the reason for his trip. He gets lots of good press, but he really wants to find a home for AFRICOM

GHANA welcomed US President George W. Bush as a friend today but said it would not host any increased US military presence on the African continent.

Mr Bush, touring Africa in the final year of his presidency, has been supporting efforts to solve crises in Kenya and Darfur. But his trip sought mainly to highlight success stories on a continent often portrayed as a morass of conflict, coups, corruption and famine.
