How are they doing as far as membership goes CHUQ? Are they having much success drawing in new members?

I really like these guys, and I like how they're going after the election, they are not rushing into anything, they are, for now, just trying to get people aware of what they're doing, I've seen them on FoxNews, CNN, MSNBC, and even Comedy Central (On my Beloved Colbert Report), I strongly support Rudy Giuliani, but Unity08 brings in a different aspect to the race... I think that many people who would probably vote for unity08 candidate won't vote for him/her because they don't want to take away votes from their party, in fear that the other party would win because of that, that will (if true) become a pretty big bump for them to go over if that becomes the case...

I got an e-mail from them a couple of days ago that give me the impression the were closing in on the 100,000 member mark. It sounds like a drop in the bucket in a way but I think slow but steady will serve them better than just jumping into the political arena all at once.

This is the e-mail about real names CHUQ.

We believe that this is another chapter in the great American story that we all hold dear, where in difficult times ordinary people step up and do extraordinary things. In fact, we believe that we are launching much more than just a new web site, we are launching a new community for all Americans to change politics forever.

This is not just a simple makeover. This is a new neighborhood built from the ground up. Over the last three months we have redesigned the infrastructure, from roads to roofs and from top to bottom, in order to be prepared for the millions of members that will take part in the largest online, secure convention ever. Please keep in mind that the paint is still a bit wet in some areas and that our community will grow over time, with your continued understanding, feedback and participation.

Together we've created a community to foster constructive conversation and action about the candidates, the issues, and our movement to elect the next president. We thank you for your help, but the hard work is just beginning.

There are many changes, but a few that you'll notice immediately:

To be transparent and accountable in this mission we will be using real names in our online community from this point forward. In a community it is important to know that you are talking to a real person.
New tools for participation include the ability to the rank and re-rank the issues that you feel are crucial to our country; group functionality to allow you to organize around issues, candidates, locations, and events; the opportunity to upload content to enhance the community; and the new system of "political capital."
Based on your feedback, the American Agenda issues have been reworked. We have provided descriptions for each of the issues and added 3 new issues from the results of our recent polling exercise.

You may also notice that not everything made the moving truck when we moved to our new home. We brought all of our blog posts, but the comments did not come with them. The discussion forum is entirely new. However, we have archived the old site and you will soon be able to move content over on your own. We have also updated our Privacy Policy and created a Terms of Service Agreement.

One year from this Sunday, America will elect a new president. We're doing all we can to get ready and we hope you are, too. You can start by lighting your torch now.

Sincerely,

Robert Bingham
CEO

PS: We truly believe that this is a historic event. One that you won't want your friends and family to miss. I encourage you to forward this email to them and have them join us today.

I was going to add tumble and Marie to me list, but when they asked for names, I decided to let that go. Personally, I do not care but I have been an agitator a long time and do not give a sh*t what they think of me. I told Tumble that I have not received anything yet, I think they are made at me for questioning the embracing of the two parties.

Looks like the leaders of Unity08 were on a course to get Bloomberg in the election. I knew that he was a choice among the Unity people. but it looks like it was all about him from the beginning.

Two veteran political consultants from different political parties have joined forces and formed an independent committee to nudge New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg into running for president in 2008.

The two consultants, Douglas Bailey and Gerald Rafshoon, told reporters Tuesday that Bloomberg's name recognition, independent political affiliation and personal fortune make him unusually well positioned to break the partisan gridlock in Washington. "Michael Bloomberg, if he runs," said Bailey, "will be elected president of the United States."

I was impressed with Unity 08 when they first started out, but to endorse someone for name recognition and not their stand on the issues is self defeating for their purpose. IMO.

True that and like I have said, looks like Bloomberg was gonna be their choice no matter what others thought.
